Karl-Anthony Towns was born in Edison on November 15, 1995. He attended St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, leading his basketball team to a state championship in 2012. After playing on the Dominican Republic national basketball team, Towns committed to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Towns attended the University of Kentucky for the 2014/2015 season, where he was named a second and third-team All-American. On April 9, 2015, he declared for the 1015 NBA Draft.

Karl-Anthony Towns was drafted first overall in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. After earning NBA Rookie of the Year, Towns would go on to become an 3x NBA All-Star with the Timberwolves, among many other accolades.
