New Era ambassador Paul Skenes is the star pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. For every strikeout during the 2025 regular season, New Era donated $250 to a charity of Paul's choosing, resulting in a total of $54,000 to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
Paul was born on May 29, 2002, in Fullerton, California. He attended El Toro High School in Orange County. In September of his junior year, Skenes committed to the United States Air Force Academy to play baseball.

Paul attended the United States Air Force Academy to play baseball. After two standout seasons, he earned All-American honors and transferred to LSU.
2022
LSU
On July 28, 2022, Skenes announced that he would be transferring to join the LSU baseball team. In his first season, he won National Pitcher of the Year honors and helped lead LSU to a National Championship before being selected first overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
2024
Pittsburgh Pirates
After being selected first overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates, Skenes made his MLB debut on May 11, 2024. He went on to win National League Rookie of the Year honors and finished third in Cy Young Award voting.
